STATEMENT OF FAITH
1. GOD - We believe in one God, Ruler of the universe and Creator of all things, infinitely perfect and existing in three co-equal and co-eternal personalities: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
2. JESUS CHRIST - We believe that Jesus Christ is the true God and true man, having being conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary; that He died on the cross, a sacrifice for our sins according to the Scriptures; that further, He rose bodily from the dead, ascending into heaven, where at the right hand of the Majesty on High, He is now our High Priest and advocate.
3. THE HOLY SPIRIT - We believe that the Holy Spirit is co-equal with the Father and the Son of God. We also believe that the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Lord Jesus and, during this age, to make men aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. He gives every believer a spiritual gift when they are saved. As Christians, we seek to live under His control daily.
4. THE BIBLE - We believe that the Bible – both New and Old Testaments – is God’s Word to us and is without error in its original writings. It was written by human authors, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. Because it is inspired by God, it is the truth without any mixture of error.
5. HUMAN BEINGS - We believe that people were made in the spiritual image of God, to be like Him in character. People are the supreme object of God’s creation. Although every person has tremendous potential for good, all of us are marred by an attitude of disobedience toward God called “sin”. We are therefore spiritually lost and spiritually separated from God without Christ in this life. This state is what causes problems in this life.
6. SALVATION - We believe that salvation is God’s free gift to us but we must accept it. We can never make up for our sin by self-improvement or good works. The shed blood of Jesus Christ, His resurrection and righteousness provide the only ground for the justification and salvation of all who believe. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness can anyone be saved from sin’s penalty, power and ultimate presence. When we turn from our self-ruled life and turn to Jesus in faith we are saved and thus become children of God. Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into his life by faith.
7. UNIVERSAL
8. LOCAL
9. LORDSHIP OF JESUS CHRIST - We believe that Jesus Christ is Lord and Head of the church and that every local church has the right under Christ to decide and govern its own affairs in accordance with the Bible.
10. COMNG OF JESUS - We believe in the personal and imminent coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and that this “blessed Hope” has a vital bearing on the personal life and service of the believer.
11. ETERNITY - People were created to exist forever. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin, or eternally with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is Hell. To be eternally in union with Him is eternal life. Heaven and Hell are real places of eternal existence. We therefore believe in the bodily resurrection of all who die; the believer to everlasting life with God, and the unbeliever to judgment and everlasting conscious punishment.
12. SPIRITUAL GIFTS - We believe that each believer has been given at least one spiritual gift to minister to, and build up, the Body of Christ, and to employ in the service of God and other people.
13. ORDINANCES OF THE CHURCH - We believe that Water Baptism and the Lord’s Supper are to be observed by the church – in various settings – during the present age. They are not, however, to be regarded as a means of salvation.
